Greetings from Nibley Park School (K-8) – March 10, 2023

Daily, our goal is to strive for excellence and be the BEST THAT WE CAN BE! This is a wonderful school, and we have outstanding students, staff members and families. Thanks for the support that you provide to us.

Grandparents’ Day – Special thanks to all grandparents and other family members who visited our school today. This is one of my most favorite days of the year. I am sorry that I had to be out of town for this event. Special thanks to our PTO and staff members for their assistance.

Attention 8th Grade Parents – It is now time to go over your students’ individual CCR (College, Career, and Readiness) Plan. As always, we are grateful for our learning community. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at 801-481-4842. Thanks for being a part of our learning community.

Mrs. Battle and Mr. Spotted Elk

Jobs Available: We are truly in need of a Computer Lab Manager (40 hours a week), Essential Elements paraprofessional (29 ½ hours per week), and Student Support paraprofessional (29 ½ hours a week). 40-hour positions include benefits. If you are interested or know of anyone who is interested, please ask them to complete an application on the Salt Lake District’s website and contact Mr. Spotted-Elk (lamar.spottedelk@slcschools.org). Each of these positions are important to our schedule and best meeting the needs of our students.

Attendance - A top priority at Nibley Park School (K-8) is student achievement and maximizing instructional minutes. Tardies and absences are major disruptions to the learning environment and student learning. Students miss the introduction and instructions to the day’s lesson, and we want each student present, engaged and ready to learn. SB219 put a moratorium on truancy enforcement, and that law expired in July 2022. We want to make you aware of this change and the Salt Lake City School District’s policies regarding attendance, absences and tardies. It is important for you to know how this will impact your children and their education. Students who have excessive absences will receive a letter from our school. If your student is ill, please either send a note or call the office to excuse the absence(s). If you are travelling, please let your child’s teacher and the school know in advance. We want each student at Nibley our school to be successful, develop healthy habits, and Be the Best That They Can Be.
